SPF is a two person exhibition featuring new work by Steven Riddle and MICA Photo’s Val Karuskevich. Opening this friday 7-10 pm!
Val Karuskevich is an interdisciplinary artist living in Baltimore, MD. At the root of his practice is a foundational education in analog photography. Karuskevich is invested in making work that stretches the medium of photography into the realms of sculpture, painting, and performance. Recent work explores the inherent light-sensitive nature of photography to make uses of the latent quality of photographic emulsion.
He is currently pursuing a BFA in Photography at the Maryland Institute of College of Art and will graduate in May 2014. He has exhibited nationally in Baltimore, New York, Los Angeles and internationally in China and the UK. In April 2014, Val will be presenting a new body of work of titled “Inverting a Void” at the Lil’ Gallery in Baltimore, MD.
The exhibition will be on view Friday, March 7, from 7 – 10pm. Held in conjunction with ALLOVERSTREET.
Steven Riddle (b.1982 in Pittsburgh) lives and works in Baltimore. He studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art where he received his BFA in 2004 and in 2012 received his MFA from Towson University. Riddle has as exhibited work at numerous venues including; Nudashank, Baltimore; Hamiltonian, Washington; POVevolving, Los Angeles; Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts, Wilmington; Space 1026, Philadelphia; Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh. Riddle Co founded the artist run space sophiajacob 2012.
