For the last two weeks, Baltimore has experienced a tumultuous series of events that were marked by moments of passion, rage, healing, and determination. A city convulsed in frustration, and then the citizens took charge of their story and made real change begin to happen.

MICA photography professor, Nate Larson, took to the streets of Baltimore with his “Contemporary Directions in Photography” class to explore the humanity behind the sensational headlines of the news media. His revealing photographs have been shared thousands of times (featured on CNN.com, hyperallergic.com, and medium.com to name a few), and we are proud to share some of the notice Nate has received for his hard work. Following posts will feature links the photographs done by his photo students.
