PEOPLE. Capture the portraits that demonstrate the breadth of expression and emotion the human spirit can evoke.

STREET. Show us the beat from the street. The faces, activities, encounters, and candid moments that comprise the urban environment.

NATURE. Mountainscapes, gardens, waterways, weather, the sky-choose your best shots to illustrate the grandeur of nature.

Contestants have the opportunity to win storage devices used by professional photographers for storing and backing up their images and client projects.

Contest Guidelines

DEADLINE: December 31st, 2016

The CRU Photo Contest is open to photographers ages 18 and over. Each participant may submit an entry in each of the three categories described above (limit of one per category for a total of up to three total entries).

You may add an optional brief artist’s statement for each of your images.

The contest is open from August 30, 2016 until December 31, 2016.

MASS MoCA is accepting applications for residencies

2017 MASS MoCA Spring/Summer residency program seeks applicants…

Opportunity is Calling!

The Studios at MASS MoCA residency program, now in its second year, is currently accepting applications for residency sessions between March 31 and October 5, 2017.

unnamed

Apply Now! Deadline is January 10, 2017

We welcome residents at all career stages, including many fantastic recent graduates of MFA programs. Please share this opportunity with your top students, and feel free to apply on your own behalf!

Why is the spring/summer 2017 residency season so special?

Well, there truly is no better time to be in the Berkshires than the spring and summer.

But more than that, MASS MoCA is opening a vast amount of new gallery space in May 2017; our 120,000 square foot “Building 6” will be the home of major installations by James Turrell, Louise Bourgeois, Robert Rauschenberg, Jenny Holzer, and Laurie Anderson, to go along with the always incredible array of changing and long-term exhibitions including (for spring/summer 2017) Nick Cave,  Steffani Jemison, Elizabeth King, Tanja Hollander, Sol Lewitt, and Anselm Kiefer, as well as performing arts events including Wilco’s spectacular Solid Sound Festival in June.

Our artists-in-residence receive private studio space on MASS MoCA’s campus (with 24/7 access), newly renovated housing right across the street from the museum, one group meal per day, 24/7  use of Makers’ Mill (a printmaking and fiber arts makerspace located a short walk from the Studios), and free access to MASS MoCA’s galleries, along with one-on-one coaching through our Assets for Artists professional development program, which may be particularly useful to some of your most promising recent grad students who are embarking on their careers.

There’s no fee to apply. There IS a residency fee to attend, but significant financial aid is available for strong applicants.

Visit massmoca.org/studios for application details.
