MICA Photo student garners two awards

Deyane Moses (class of 2019) wins two awards…

Deyane Moses (third from left) accepting her 2019 Harry T. Pratt Society award.

MICA Photo is proud to announce that Deyane Moses was awarded two prestigious art awards this past weekend. The first award is the 2019 Harry T. Pratt Society Awardee for outstanding working in championing diversity & cultural awareness at MICA. Deyane’s current work exploring MICA’s history of past racial disparities has gained her recognition, and spurred her to organize the “Take Back the Steps” demonstration last month in front of the Main Building. She has continued working in collaboration with University of Baltimore’s in their Special Collections & Archives.

Her second award announced over the weekend was for the Aperture Summer Internship Program in New York City. We are very excited to see how this experience influences her work to come. We are also excited for Deyane’s nomination for the MICA Chair’s Award. The winner of this award will be announced soon. Congratulations to you Deyane for all your hard work & excellent results!
