Nikon technical service reps make house call at “Town Hall”…


Don’t forget…MICA Photo is hosting another “Town Hall Meeting” today at 2:00PM in M010. This will be an open forum to make announcements, ask questions, make suggestions, etc. Please come an contribute to the discussion. As an added feature for today, MICA Photo is happy to welcome the technical service representatives from NIKON. They will be checking, cleaning, and doing diagnostic inspections of all NIKON camera equipment today. Please bring in your digital AND film cameras, lenses, flashes, etc. for a free inspection & cleaning. This is a great opportunity to get your gear checked!

Kodak re-introduces fast 35mm film

It’s Baaaaaaaaack…!


Kodak just announced it is going to produce T-Max 3200 35mm film again. “Darkroom photography is making a comeback, and B&W Film sales are clearly on a positive trajectory. Given these very encouraging market trends, we believe P3200 TMZ will be a great addition to our lineup”. – Dennis Olbrich, President of Kodak Alaris Paper, Photo Chemicals and Film

Sales will begin in March…get out in that low light and take some pictures!

Come get your hands on our new Fujifilm GFX 50S medium format digital camera. The info session will last approximately 30 minutes with time for Q&A.

MICA photo students must participate in a training session to gain access to this camera. If you are unable to attend our brief meeting session, you will have to schedule an individual session with Jefferson and/or Sara.

New MICA Photo crib staff

Meet Andrew Vox…


MICA Photo would like to introduce our newest member to the Photo Crib Staff…Andrew Vox. Andrew will now be working evenings & weekends for us part-time. His regular schedule will be on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings this semester, but you may see him occasionally on other shifts covering for our other staff members.

Andrew has experience with all formats of film photography, has deep experience with the Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom, and has worked with 3-D scanning & animation too. FYI…Andrew completed his MFA in Paris, France, and would be a good person to talk about what the experience of studying abroad was like for him. So stop by, say hi, and welcome Andrew into the MICA Photo Staff!

Assistants Workshop 101: An Introduction to Assisting – TWO DAY EVENT

Join ASMP for a two day exploration of the basics of photo assisting. Featuring panel discussions with industry leaders & hands on demos with pro-assistants & photographers. We will tackle the basics to get you started, how to break into the industry and answer your questions.

Free to all! Day one will feature a panel discussion with professional assistants and photographers covering what it takes to be a successful assistant. The evening will start off with a meet & greet, followed by panel discussion, and Q&A, hosted by WYPR’s Aaron Henkin and end with more hang-outs.

Meet fellow local photographers, assistants, and future friends! Also, we’re raffling off some cool assistant gear, courtesy of Service Photo Supply. You don’t wanna miss that.

Day two is gonna to be a blast!! This hands-on intensive workshop will introduce you to basic skills needed to be an assistant. Learn how to fly a scrim, what the hell gaff tape is, assemble a softbox, and work with lighting gear alongside professional assistants and photographers on real sets! MICA Photo is excited to announce that we have acquired several new pieces of equipment during the past few months, and the Crib would like to introduce you to them by having a Photo Departmental NEW Equipment INFO Session on Friday, Sept. 15th at 3:00 pm. This info session is open to all photo majors and concentrators. Please come see the new equipment, and ask questions.
In the near future, we will have workshops for proper usage, care , and safety with certain pieces of the new equipment. Announcements of these workshops will be announced on the blog. Stay tuned….
